136 Gilbert Road

Route 136 was created on October 1, 1994. The earliest known route for route 136 is from August 18, 1997, when the route traveled from Chandler-Gilbert Community College, along Pecos Rd and up Gilbert Rd, along Civic Center Dr and Warner Rd, then back up Gilbert Rd, looping around Brown Rd, Lindsay Rd, and McDowell Rd. Select trips continued along Brown Rd, instead of turning on Lindsay Rd, to Higley Rd, serving Falcon Field and McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) at McDowell Rd & Higley Rd. At some point between then and the early 2000s, a small loop diversion was added around Jacinto Ave, 24th St, and Baseline Rd. On July 26, 2004, the trips to Boeing were slightly modified to serve Ingram St, 48th St, and McKellips Rd from Higley Rd. On July 26, 2010, direct service to Chandler-Gilbert Community College was eliminated, and the southern end of the route was extended to Crossroads Towne Center at Gilbert Rd & Insight Way/Ryan Rd. On January 23, 2012, the northern end was adjusted to end at the new Gilbert Rd/McDowell Rd Park and Ride instead of looping around McDowell Rd, Lindsay Rd, and McKellips Rd. Finally, on April 27, 2020, the deviation to Boeing was eliminated.
