  • Early 2000 - Earliest known routing of route 44 traveled from 48th St & Baseline Rd, presumably turning on Broadway Rd and going up Mill Ave to University Dr, then over to 44th St, then State Route 153, and heading up to Paradise Valley Mall
  • March 19, 2000 - Southern end of the route truncated to College Ave & 5th St in Downtown Tempe and northern end extended to Phoenix Mayo Hospital
  • March 19, 2001 - Northern end extended to Tatum Blvd & Deer Valley Rd
  • January 14, 2002 - Northern end slightly adjusted to better serve Desert Ridge Marketplace
