The earliest known routing of route 52 is from 2000, when it traveled from Southern Ave & 19th Ave, to 15th Ave, along Atlanta Ave, down 7th Ave, and along Roeser Rd, then down 48th St, back to Southern Ave, up Potter Dr, and over to Fair Lane and Fairmont Dr. On February 24, 2003, the route was extended up Central Ave to serve the new Ed Pastor Transit Center. On July 23, 2012, the turnaround loops at each end of the route were simplified. Most recently, on October 25, 2021, the deviation to Ed Pastor Transit Center was eliminated.
