  • August 18, 1997 - The earliest known routing of route 531 traveled from Downtown Phoenix, along Interstate 10, Loop 202, Loop 101, and US 60 to Mesa Dr, along Broadway Rd, and down Gilbert Rd to Elliot Rd
  • July 25, 2005 - Eastern end of the route rerouted to serve the new Gilbert Park and Ride
  • July 27, 2009 - Rerouted to use Southern Ave instead of Broadway Rd between Mesa Dr and Gilbert Rd
  • October 24, 2011 - Rerouted down Country Club Dr to the new West Mesa Park and Ride, then along Baseline Rd to Gilbert Rd
