  • September 7, 1993 - Route 541 created from renaming route 530
  • August 18, 1997 - The earliest known official routing of route 541 traveled from the State Capitol, through Downtown Phoenix, onto Interstate 10, Loop 202, Loop 101, US 60, Alma School Rd, Knox Rd, Arizona Ave, and Chicago St to Colorado St
  • January 14, 2002 - By this time, the route had been rerouted to use Central Ave instead of 1st St in Downtown Phoenix and the eastern end had been truncated to end at Arizona Ave & Chicago St
  • December 29, 2008 - Eastern end extended down Arizona Ave, Germann Rd, and Hamilton St to the new Chandler Park and Ride
  • January 23, 2012 - Eastern end truncated to Arizona Ave & Ray Rd
  • January 28, 2013 - Route modified to serve West Mesa Park and Ride via US 60, Country Club Dr, Juanita Ave, Jerome Ave, Vineyard, and Baseline Rd
  • October 26, 2020 - Route through Downtown Phoenix modified to use 7th Ave/5th Ave and Van Buren St due to long-term construction
  • October 24, 2022 - Route eliminated
