History

Map showing DASH route from the State Capitol to 5th Street and Van Buren Street
DASH map from 1991
  • December 1990 - DASH introduced, traveling in a loop through Downtown Phoenix between the State Capitol and 5th St & Van Buren St
  • May 13, 1991 - Route modified to better serve downtown businesses on Central & 1st Avenues and Monroe & Adams Streets
  • 1999 - By this point, trips were changed to only serve the State Capitol between 11 am and 2 pm, with a turnaround on 4th Ave for the regular route
  • November 26, 2001 - Service hours to the State Capitol were extended back throughout the whole service day, removing the need for the turnaround on 4th Ave
  • May 3, 2004 - DASH rerouted to avoid construction around Phoenix Civic Plaza, diverting at Adams St, traveling south along 1st St, east along Jefferson St, north on 5th St, west on Van Buren St, and then down 1st Ave along its established route
  • August 2008 - DASH split into 2 routes - a Government Loop traveling from the State Capitol to Central Station along Washington & Jefferson St and Central & 1st Ave, and a Downtown loop, traveling from 1st St & Monroe St, up 5th St, along Roosevelt St, 3rd Ave, Portland St, 1st Ave, back down Roosevelt St and down 1st St, to Central Station on Van Buren St, then down 2nd Ave, Adams St, 1st Ave, Jackson St, and back up 1st St to Monroe St
  • July 26, 2010 - DASH Downtown Loop was eliminated
  • October 26, 2020 - Eastern end of the route was truncated to Washington St & 4th St due to long-term construction at Central Station and in Downtown Phoenix
