History
Route 170 was created on March 1, 1993 and originally traveled from Bell Rd & 59th Ave, along Bell Rd, then down Tatum Blvd to the Paradise Valley Mall Transit Center. At some point between then and August 18, 1997, the western end of the route was extended to Bell Rd & 75th Ave. By March 19, 2000, the route had been extended further west to Arrowhead Towne Center and the eastern end was rerouted to the Costco at Hayden Rd & 84th St. On July 24, 2006, the eastern end was slightly adjusted to end at Raintree Dr & Northsight Blvd. On October 24, 2016, the eastern part of the route was rerouted down Northsight Blvd from Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd instead of down Hayden Rd, then down Northsight Blvd. This change appears to have been quietly reverted on April 24, 2017.
