History

In 2000, route 17 traveled from Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix to Granite Reef Rd in Scottsdale and there was a branch up 51st Ave to Camelback. This 51st Avenue branch was removed on October 13, 2003. Before 2014, there was also a route 17A that was an extension of route 17 that served Avondale. On January 27, 2014, this route was eliminated and route 17 was extended to replace it. At this same time, service to SkySong Transit Center was added in Scottsdale. On October 27, 2014, the eastern end of route 17 was extended to Pima Road and service to Desert Sky Mall was eliminated.
