Route 50 map from 2000

The earliest known routing of route 50 is from 2000, when it traveled from Campbell Ave & 67th Ave, with alternate trip diversions to 44th St & Village Dr, before continuing down Camelback Rd to Granite Reef Rd, up to Chaparral Rd, and over to Scottsdale Community College. On January 22, 2007, route 50 was temporarily rerouted onto Campbell Ave between 15th and 23rd Avenues because of light rail construction, until December 29, 2008, when it was restored onto Camelback Rd, upon light rail opening. On July 23, 2012, the western end of the route was extended to Camelback Rd & 107th Ave, removing the loop involving Campbell Ave. On October 26, 2015, the eastern end of the route was truncated from Scottsdale Community College to Camelback Rd & Scottsdale Rd, with the eliminated segment to be served by the new Camelback Trolley. On October 24, 2016, the eastern end was slightly adjusted to end at Drinkwater Blvd & Scottsdale Rd instead of Scottsdale Rd & Camelback Rd. Finally, on April 26, 2021, the eastern end of route 50 was re-extended back to Scottsdale Community College.
